Detail
Blanton's introduced Single Barrel Bourbon in 1984. Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee was getting close to retirement, and his mission was to produce an extraordinarily fine bourbon. He thought back carefully to the early years of his career, working with Colonel Albert B. Blanton in the late 1940s. Up until 1952, Colonel Blanton served as the distillery's president. Mr. Lee recalled that Colonel Blanton would choose "honey barrels" by hand from Warehouse H's central cut and have the whiskey bottled one barrel at a time for dignitaries and other notable guests. The moniker "Blanton's Single Barrel" was chosen by Elmer T. Lee to honor Colonel Blanton's longstanding custom.
